The congregation Hanukah Hagiga was a great success!  Thank you to all who participated in the variety show and in the celebration!

 

American Sephardi Federation is meeting for a dinner outing tonight December 15th at Bugsy’s in Skokie. All are welcome.

 

The congregation is participating in a community-wide Shabbaton scheduled for Shabbat Mishpatim, February 4- 6 at Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale.  The theme of the Shabbaton is “the pride of our past, the excitement for our future.”  The special subsidized cost is a reasonable $249 per room (up to five per room) and includes all meals for the entire ruach-filled, exciting educational weekend.  Families are welcome.  Brochures are available at the synagogue or you may call Religious Zionists of Chicago, 847.674.9733.

 

We are pleased to announce that Rabbi Michael Azose will lead an Israel Family Tour this coming summer, from June 15 through June 26.  An exciting itinerary is planned.  For information on the exact itinerary, accommodations and prices, please refer to the printed pamphlets in the Synagogue or contact the synagogue office.

 

The Shabbat Hilchot study group will now meet Thursday evenings due to short winter days.

 

The final Board Meeting of the calendar year is this coming Sunday Dec. 19 at 10am.

 

Annual Meeting of the congregation will be held on January 16th at 10am. A brunch will directly follow the meeting.  Please save the date and plan to attend.

A mini-Shabbaton will be held at the Synagogue November 12-13 as a prelude to the dinner honoring the Natans, who will be in attendance at the Shabbaton.  It will include delicious Sephardic meals for Shabbat Dinner, Lunch and Seudah Shlisheet prepared by chef Shaoul ben Shaoul.  There will be two sets of concurrent shiurim in Hebrew and English given by Rabbi Dr. Jerold Isenberg (Chancellor of Hebrew Theological College), Rabbi Yehuda Freilich (YisraeLink) and Rabbi Dr. Leonard Matanky (Dean of Ida Crown Jewish Academy and Rabbi of Congregation KINS).  There is a nominal charge for the meals so please help us plan accordingly and RSVP with a call the synagogue office by phone or an email to sephardic_congregation@yahoo.com.

The congregation is seeking prizes for the raffle drawing being held in conjunction with the Annual Dinner.  Please contact the office if you would like to contribute.
